E-business and globalization

E-business will grow continually and globalize more in the future. Even though there are some disadvantages with e-business, but with advanced technology and unique human ideas, E-business competition will spread worldwide. Therefore globalization will keep growing and improving.

Many people are concerned about their safety when giving their credit card number to an online company. Even people feel more risk when purchasing a product from foreign countries. However, PayPal provides solutions for this problem for the consumer, for a new way of payment.
 
PayPal is a global e-commerce business allowing payments and money transfers to be made through the Internet. [1] e-Bay acquired PayPal in 2002, PayPal is the faster, safer way to pay and get paid online, via a mobile device and in store. PayPal’s service gives people simpler ways to send money without sharing financial information, and with the flexibility to pay using their account balances, bank accounts, credit cards or promotional financing. [2] PayPal use encryption software to allow people to make financial transfers between computers. [3]

PayPal does like intermediary so people can trusts and feel less risk instead of providing credit card number. Not only that they can adjust the currency, PayPal’s had Multiple Currencies featured. [4] 128 million active accounts in 193 markets and 25currencies around the world, PayPal enables global commerce, processing more than With 7.6 million payments every day. [5] PayPal provides a huge difference especially consumer to consumer business such as E-bay.

When people go to the mall, you will always find USA designer’s brands such as Coach and Tiffany. These USA designer brands are very popular in some foreign country. In USA, people are able to purchase a Coach bag at $250.00 but in some foreign countries such as Japan, the price can be double or even triple the actual price because they don’t have many retail stores. When Japanese travelers come to USA and go to outlet such as wood berry common or just a local shopping mall, people surprise about the price of the USA designer brands.

When I researched about E-business, especially consumer to consumer, I found an interesting company in Japan. This company does an online Resale business . This company has 30000 sellers from 70 nations and handles 4000 designers’ brands. Sellers don’t have to be a professional seller; they can be a student or anybody who like to have a side business.

This company researched that some designers brand are less expensive in some foreign countries compared with products selling in Japan. Also the company system is very unique because the seller does not have to carry an actual product which means no inventory at all. Sellers just listed the picture of the product on the company web site and explain about the products from a foreign country using a computer . After that a seller can just wait until a buyer make bid. When a customer bids on a product, the seller can just go to a store and buy the product and ship it to the customer. Buyers can also request a product to the sellers. Unlike e-bay and amazon.com, advantage of this system is that seller does not carry inventory. So anybody who is interested in this business or want learn about the business can do this without spending fund. I heard about this company about 3 years ago and my friend has been doing as a seller for several years.

This company just listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. I am very interesting about the future of this company’s business style and I will keep a close eye on this company’s growth.

Human wisdom and unique ideas always changes the business style. People find solutions and take action of the idea quickly; there is a big chance for their business to succeed. In my conclusion, technology has been improving and developing rapidly. Using advanced technology and unique strategies, globalization of business will expanded more and more in future.

Super store explanation

I clicked on Existing database and found features samples. I clicked on Super store sales and copy this database right upper side of the screen. I added a column “Tax” using add button.
After“tax” column appeared, I did not want to type 0.07 numbers in each row. So I choose “Find and replace “and add tax number of 0.07 to the replace section. So its howed 0.07 in each row.
Also I added “Profitafter tax” using custom formula “Profit*(1-0.07)”. I added 2 rows which are air cleaner and books in last 2 rows.

 Using Web 2.0, it provides enormous advantages and changes our life style completely, but users have to take a responsibility to use technology in good ways.

  Web2.0 is not a static one-way transmission of information by the caller, recipient of the information is also able to build up the content freely. Web 2.0 was referred to as this idea of the "Web as a platform". [1] Companies used to disseminate information on web, but this has completely changed by blog, SNS and You tube.

 You tube and Flickr provide very useful video clips. About a decade ago, in order to learn application software, people used to buy high cost educational videos. Recent years, people can watch demonstration clips on you tube and learn software easily.  Using You tube as educational purpose is excellent. Anybody can learn easily without any cost. Also, there is great opportunity to show your talent and become famous.

  You Tube does not require signing in or no blocked content. As a result, children even kindergarten, is able to watch You Tube if they want. There are rating for DVD or movie, therefore parents can choose whether this DVD is adequate for children or not. However, there is no rating for you tube video clip at all. There is parent control and is able to block the entire site. However, users are not being able to sort video clips strictly.
 
 Micro blogging site such as Twitter can updated post constantly from internet or even from phone. Micro blogging is writing extremely short blog posts, kind of like text messages. Twitter is currently the most popular micro blog service and lets users post entries up to 140 characters long.[2]
About 1 year ago, Hurricane Sandy attacked east coast. New Jersey had huge damaged by the hurricane. Most town in try states also lost power and no heat for several days. It was cold and frightens experience. People could not obtain information from TV and internet. Gas stations were closed due to damage of the roads so it was difficult to get gas. People started sharing that which gas station was open and available. People kept updated information by twitter or Facebook. This is a good example to show that using advanced technology in a good way.
 
 Cyber bulling especially among for teenagers is serious concern nowadays. "Cyber bullying" is when a child, preteen or teen is tormented, threatened, harassed, humiliated, embarrassed or otherwise targeted by another child, preteen or teen using the Internet, interactive and digital technologies or mobile phones.[3]  When I research about Cyber bulling, I was surprised by numbers of victim. It says, over half of adolescents and teens have been bullied online, and about the same number have engaged in cyber bullying. More than 1 in 3 young people have experienced cyber threats online. [4]

 Last year, there was an anti-bullying campaign in my town’s public school. The school invited a person who lost his 12 years old son by cyber bullying. His son was bulling when he was an elementally school and parents contacted a school and tried to solve the problem. Then the bullying was stopped. However, when his son entered a middle school, another way of bullying, cyber bullying began. His son did not talk about cyber bullying and parents did not know anything about it. As a result, parents lost their precious son.

  People have to commit Netiquette. Netiquette, a colloquial portmanteau of network etiquette or Internet etiquette is a set of social conventions that facilitate interaction over networks, ranging from Usenet and mailing lists to blogs and forums.[5] Society has to protect and take responsibility to educate children.

I n conclusion, advanced technology such and Wb2.0 provides us a lot of potential for our life.  However, there are not only advantages, users have to always aware of disadvantages and use the technology in appropriate ways.

 The market size of the online shopping is expanding steadily and further technological innovation can help expand online shopping more and more in the future. Online shopping does not require having a brick and mortar shop, so there is no complicated procedure and can be opening without investing a lot of cost. Furthermore, an online shop does not spend as much money on expenses; so as a result, the buyer is able to buy products at a reasonable price.

 One of my favorite online companies is called Zappos .com, which is mainly selling shoes and clothing. The founder of Zappos.com is Nick Swinmum who was looking for his pair of athletic shoes in a mall and could not find shoes. This was his inspiration and an opportunity to opening his online store. [1]

Zappo.com founded in 1999, the company has grown rapidly in short time.  Advertising costs were minimal, and the company grew mostly by word of mouth.  In 2008, Zappos hit $1 billion in annual sales, two years earlier than expected (one year later, they fulfilled their other long-term goal, debuting at No. 23 on Fortune’s Top 100 Companies to Work For)[2]  The company provide excellent  customer service and  also shipping and handling is very fast.  Zappo.com has unique company policy. I watched company demonstration clip on you tube and looks very fun and creative work environment. This is one of the successful online businesses.  

 Online shopping is very convenient but buyers always have to be careful about Identity thefts. There is a lot of information about safety tips on web. Buyer has to choose a store with good reviews. That is very helpful to select a shop. Don’t judge the business by its website. Make sure the site has a physical address and a working phone number.[3] When a customer enters personal information and credit card number, they have to always check whether the website is encrypted or not.

Last year, I bought some products from a well-known company but debited from an unknown shop for 2 months. The amount was only $39.99 and did not realize it even I usually review a credit card bill. I called a credit company and explained about the strange unknown shop. They said this company was scam and located in somewhere in Caribbean. My personal information was stolen.

 I always careful when I do online shopping and apply safety tips. However, in addition to these safety tips, users can install web browsers. There is security web browser such as Internet Explorer 9. Tracking Protection in Internet Explorer 9 helps to protect your privacy from third-party online trackers.  Helps protect against cross-site scripting attacks. Cybercriminals look for vulnerabilities in website code so that they can insert malicious scripts which gather private information about site visitors. [4]   Firefox5, Google chrome 12, Opera 11, RockMelt, these are also safety web browsers.  Most websites describe product’s pros and cons. Users can research products and choose a suitable web browser. I see many products are able to download from web sites with no cost.

 In my conclusion, technology is keep evolving and improving. Most large online corporations are inventing new ways to make fraud more difficult. [5] In future, more people will be used advanced technology easily and effectively. I believe that number of online shopping sites and users will increased and get more popular; it will keep growing.

The database has influenced and helped us in every scene of our lives directly or indirectly. By using the database, users will be able to run the command on the data, searching, sorting, analysis, summary, and reporting in a short time. Database is much better than a simple list or table. Also database can obtained information from a variety of files, so users do not need re-enter the information manually. Users can process more accurate and efficiently input of data.

  In recent years, travelers have come by purchasing flight tickets by online. Before than most people had to go/ call to a travel agency to get prices on airplane tickets then go to the agency to purchase the tickets. Nowadays, people can research airplane’s tickets price and compare prices easily by the internet. People are able to choose different dates for flights and make reservations and even request In-flight meal by the internet. For example, Expedia is an internet based travel company that was launched by a small division of Microsoft. This company has grown rapidly and has local–language sites in 31 countries worldwide; the company grossed 4 billion dollars in 2012. In the sales of airplane tickets for the travel company, it is not an exaggeration to say that the speed of the web site affect the performance of business especially e-commerce of B2C (business to customers).

 I found out that some online based travel companies use Oracle database and Oracle Times Ten In-Memory Database. Oracle is computer technology Company and third largest soft maker. Times Ten databases does not need disk1/o for data operation so transaction is reduced to microseconds, complex analytical queries will be executed in thinking speed. Furthermore, Time Ten provides very fast access time so it is suitable for real-time financial services trading applications and large web applications, travel logistics, gaming, and more.

 The fast access and reliability for Travel Company is very important. The travel company records the features, including a personal preference and travel history of airlines, travel destination, car rental, and hotels in profiles. The online travel reservation system must be presented to the instant products and meet the complex search requirements. 1. Oracle database is good to use, if a person is involved in a development business. However, this product is not suitable for individual user and the cost is high.

2. Oracle database is solid, fast and reliable. Even if simultaneous access by multiple users, the data inconsistencies are not caused mechanism. Oracle database will provide efficient access without data loss or data inconsistencies, which can be advantage. TimesTen is able to provide fast access of transaction, so it is very important for online travel companies.

3. *If an individual user is able to use this database easily and purchase this product would be better. * Buying reasonable price of airline tickets by on-line or Travel Company, sometime it takes risks especially airport transfers from International flight to domestic flights. Customers are difficult to figure out flight schedules by online. They should improve the online airplane ticket information by listing disadvantages and advantages for the ticket. Therefore if a database is able to notice customers or travel agents about advantages, disadvantages and risks for buying airline tickets, this will be reduced problems. My friend took an international flight and arrival time was little delay, so my friend could not take a domestic flight. A travel agent did not make aware about this problem to my friend.  I sometimes visit blogs in order to research good restaurants in tri state area, but I never thought about having my own blog, so this is the first time operating my own blog.

I clicked on the icon of the layout then it showed “Add a Gadget”, I clicked on it and showed the option of Gadgets. I decided to add the +1 Button. So Instead of writing about a comment, people can quickly and easy to respond to a blog and I can see the number of results from it.

 Social network companies such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter are an extension of the real world. People’s comment affects the decision of the things of others. If a person who has many followers and strong influence to others, it can make a strong contribution to business. The most significant feature of social network is the information that is available to others in real time.

  Let think about the fashion industry.  Fashion industry is being influenced by the trends.  System is composed of individual elements and group of interacting that mutually affect each other. A sub-system is also part of another system, while at the same time is own system.  When our society verbalizes “system” “which means “organization”, “mechanism “and “method”.

 System, the Latin word called” systema” is the etymological of the word, “whole compounded of several parts or members, system", literary "composition"[1]

 Let think about human society. Each individual has been living implications to others. Human beings are not being able to live alone. The society formed by each single family and each family consists of each individual.

 Dr. Murray Bowen, M.D., was an American psychiatrist and one of the pioneer of family therapy and founder of systemic therapy. He developed a system theory of the family. He said that “Families are systems of interconnected and interdependent individuals, none of whom can be understood in isolation from the system” [2]

 H. Dan Smith who is the professor of California State University said “In recent years, the view of the family as a "system" has become an increasingly popular and important theoretical framework for counselors and family therapy professionals. [3]

 The family is that consists of around a person who is in kinship and couple. The family system, husband and wife, father and son, mother and child, siblings consist of the specific sub-systems respectively. It is important as the role of the family is support each other mentally and economically, parents take care of children and everyone to grow together.

Each family member has own responsibility. If an individual does not fulfill their responsibility, building a healthy family is difficult and does not function well.

 E-commerce and Mobile commerce are very popular to any age group nowadays.

E-commerce is electronic transactions between companies (business to business or B2B), companies and consumers (business to consumer or B2C), consumers and other consumers (consumer to consumer, or C2C)

Mobile commerce is the using the mobile phone in particular. Transactions can be made anytime and anywhere.

In E-commerce, the seller side has some benefits. Opening a store is easy and they are not necessary to have regular stores, with E-commerce you can hire fewer people to operate the store, compared to having regular stores. Also, online sites have abilities to have a world market.  The buyers can be omitted for the distribution stage of a product and purchase goods at a low price.

  About 2 months ago, I sent a mother’s day flowers to my mother who lives in Japan. I used the famous Japanese online shopping mall company called “Rakuten”; it is like the “Amazon.com” in Japan. Many shops open to “Rakuten” because this company has good reputations and reviews. Here is an example of information system.

 I choose a bouquet of nice carnations with a thank you card.  I entered a number of quantity; choose a color, delivery day and a message to my mother on the order form. The company was collecting and capturing raw data.

  The flower shop took my order and calculated the cost and shipping fee. Also, ordering from a foreign country means that they have to convert currency, from US dollars to Japanese yen. Then the shop had to contact the shipping company to send the bouquet. This is step of Processing.

 The flower shop took a picture of the flowers, before sending it to my mother’s house and notified me through the e-mail. The shipping company gave me a tracking number so I could track where the flower went. 

  When the flower delivered to my mother’s house, the flower shop sent me an e- mail and asked some questions about the service. Reviews and good feedback are very influential for the success of the online business.

 The delivery was fast and the quality of the product was excellent. Furthermore, the cost was low and save a lot of time instead of shopping at a regular shopping mall.
